JUST US, JUST WE - SWING CITY TRIO
Steve Andrews - Tenor Saxophone
Roy Cansdale - Bass
Roly Veitch - Guitar and Vocals
The Swing City Trio came together in 2007, with the aim of recreating (though not slavishly) the small group, swing style jazz typical of the New York clubs of the late 30s and 40s. It features Steve Andrews on tenor sax/clarinet, Roy Cansdale on string bass and Roly Veitch on acoustic guitar/vocals. This is our first CD, released May 08.

LA VIE EN ROSE - KEITH STEPHEN'S HOT CLUB TRIO WITH JOHN HALLAM & CAROLINE IRWIN
Keith Stephen - Guitar
Roly Veitch - Rhythm Guitar & Vocals
Bruce Rollo - Double Bass
John Hallam - Clarinet & Tenor Sax
Caroline Irwin - Vocals
Keith's Trio play a mix of Django classics and nice jazz standards, all with the strong, swing style rhythm typical of the hot club style. CD released 1st May 2007.
The trio often works with fine UK reedman John Hallam and it is our priviledge to have John strongly featured as our guest on this recording.
The CD also introduces the vocal talents of a fine young singer, Caroline Irwin.
We hope you enjoy the music.

Review by Peter Bevan - Northern Echo - Dec 2006.
The Roly Veitch Trio/Wrap your troubles in dreams (GeordieJazzFolk GJF/CD/04). Another delightful album from three of the region's finest musicians and a lovely combination, too, with Roly on guitar and vocals, Noel Dennis trumpet and flugelhorn and Neil Harland double bass. The programme is an all-familiar one with such favourites as Blame It On My Youth and My funny Valentine. There are ten tracks in all and Roly sings on half of them in a gentle, slightly wistful way.
Well worth hearing, and available on www.rolyveitch.20m.com
KEITH STEPHEN'S GYPSY JAZZ.
Keith Stephen - Guitar
Roly Veitch - Rhythm Guitar & Vocals
Bruce Rollo - Bass
Bill Smith - Clarinet & Tenor Sax
This band, formed in late 2003, plays music in the Hot Club style. We were invited to do a 'one off' concert at Gateshead Jazz Club. We received a great reception from the full house audience, so decided to continue on and to develop the band. 'Hot Club' swing with as much variety in the music as we can muster, and played with an unpretentious sense of fun. This sums up the ethos of the band. This is our first CD. Check out the tracklisting and soundbites here. Review 10/2/05 by www.thisisthenortheast.co.uk - "a gentle, nostalgic and totally enjoyable disc by this new quartet with Keith and Roly Veitch on guitars, Bruce Rollo double bass and guest Bill Smith on tenor saxophone and clarinet, with Roly singing on a couple. The 15 songs include Pennies from Heaven, Douce Ambiance and Nuages and it's a delight from start to finish".
STAIRWAY TO THE STARS - THE BILLY HARPER/ROLY VEITCH QUARTET (GJF/CD/03).
Billy Harper - Piano
Roly Veitch - Guitar & Vocals
Pete Stuart - Bass
Bill Shield - Drums
Billy Harper, a fine swing style jazz pianist, has now moved away from the north east. Also the Blaydon Jazz Club reached it's 20th anniversary in Sept 2004. To mark these events a live recording was made and this CD is the result. It was recorded at the club at one of our regular Thursday sessions - we hope you enjoy it. Check out the tracklisting and soundbites here.
